Omaha, Nebraska
The Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium lets you unleash your sense of wonder among 160 acres of unique habitats from around the world, right from Omaha, Nebraska. As part of a new Alaskan Adventure exhibit, Larkin Aquatics was chosen to create an Alaskan-themed splash ground and water feature. The exhibit features dancing waters through a series of sprays and spouts, over 75 bronze sculptures created by Nebraska’s own, Matthew Placzek, and an 18-foot-high humpback whale with water trailing from its extended fins. The splash ground is managed through computerized controls, systematically spraying a mix of water and fog through nozzles arranged around the sculptures to simulate the water effects made by the animals as they breach, porpoise, splash, spray water from their blowholes, and emerge from or dive into the ocean. The water feature truly allows Zoo guests to feel like they are in the wild of Alaska.
