Kansas City, Missouri
Located in downtown Kansas City, the Kirk Family YMCA benefits the health and wellness of visitors in countless ways. Lamp Rynearson was both honored and excited to perform the planning, design, and construction administration for the project. This one-of-a-kind opportunity transformed the historic Lyric Theatre building, a long-time City landmark, into a state-of-the-art YMCA that serves the growing needs of the diverse downtown community.
This 62,000 square-foot YMCA includes meeting rooms, a health clinic, instruction kitchen, healthy café, cardio and strength training, walking track, and gymnasium. The pool area is a key component of the facility. It includes two unique bodies of water, both accessible to members. Visitors can exercise and rehabilitate in the lap pool or experience multiple opportunities for exploration and play in the leisure pool. This both vintage and contemporary space achieves the goal of being inviting, engaging, and dynamic while offering an additional area for wellness and therapy. This new facility opened in 2021.
