For World Landscape Architecture Month, we’re spotlighting how learning shapes the journey of landscape architects at Lamp Rynearson. This week, Landscape Designer Elli Klein shares how curiosity, mentorship, and hands-on experience fuel her growth and impact.
Elli’s most meaningful learning moments have come from working on a wide range of projects—from trails and parks to school entrances and commercial sites. Each project brings new lessons and unique impacts for the people who use these spaces, making the work feel truly meaningful.

Building skills, Elli says, is all about time and curiosity. “I’ve learned something new almost every day,” she shares. Staying curious and engaged helps knowledge stick, and over time, she’s seen her abilities expand in ways that matter.
When asked to describe her profession in one word, Elli chooses “wholesome.” The spaces she helps create benefit users both physically and emotionally, and knowing her work makes a difference is deeply fulfilling.
Mentorship and collaboration are at the heart of Elli’s development. “Everyone I work with has helped me in some way—work-related or life-related,” she says. At Lamp Rynearson, colleagues are more than just teammates; they’re friends, mentors, and family, always ready to support and encourage.

Elli’s advice for students and emerging professionals? Ask questions, get involved, and seek out inspiration. “Don’t be afraid to bring your ideas to the table,” she encourages. It’s through action and learning that you’ll find your path and make a lasting impact.
