Hy-Vee at Aspen Creek
Hy-Vee sought out a location in the metro area to bulid their largest store. To meet the time considerations, they needed to have footings poured before the next spring season. A supermarket of this size with such an aggressive schedule was unprecedented. There were two significant challenges – more land was needed to meet the requirements of a store of this scale, and an extremely responsive design team would have to be up to the task.
As the engineers of the Aspen Creek development, Lamp Rynearson’s team quickly established new lot lines, a grading plan, and permits within a single month for the redesigned 33-acre parcel. By the end of the following month, the site was graded while entitlements and the schedule moved quickly forward. Overcoming grading challenges, previous stormwater agreements, and access for this 140,000 sf site was completed and within the two months, our team also successfully created site design, public improvements, utilities, sanitary sewer, and parking stalls.
Excellent communication, a responsive design team, and great project management led to the project staying on schedule while meeting the expectations and needs of both BHI Development and Hy-Vee clients for this milestone supermarket project.
