CEO Moment: Real People. Real Effort.
Juneteenth reminds us that while progress isn’t always timely, it’s worth pursuing—and it matters when it arrives. It’s also a moment to take stock of the culture we’re shaping through our everyday actions. I won’t pretend to have all the answers, but I believe this: legacy is built in the small, consistent choices we make—not someday, but right now.

At Lamp Rynearson, when we talk about Building Legacy for All, it includes showing up in ways that reflect care, respect, and awareness of the different experiences that shape the world around us. Within our Community of Solvers, this spirit shows up in real and inspiring ways. Our very own Senior Urban Planner, Manne Cook, has played a key role in supporting the growth of Omaha’s Juneteenth JoyFest—a local event that began in 2021 and has grown into a full-day celebration of Black art, culture, and entrepreneurship in North Omaha. It’s the kind of effort that strengthens community ties and creates space for connection, creativity, and shared celebration.
Manne’s impact also extends to the development of the North Omaha Trail—a project that reflects the power of local vision, grassroots leadership, and collaboration. What started as an idea in 2017 has become a vibrant public space for movement, gathering, and storytelling.
Lamp Rynearson has been honored to serve as a design partner on the trail alongside Spark and other local leaders. Our work helped ensure the trail reflects the voices and history of the neighborhood—from early planning and community workshops to art installations and safe, well-lit pathways. Phase 1, completed in 2022, included Omaha’s first trail lighting, a murals at the B&B Boxing Academy, along the trail, and design features, plantings, and events shaped directly by community input.
In 2023, the trail became a canvas for even more local artists, and events like JoyFest, Skatefest, and Pull Up and Vibe took root. Community gardens, cleanup events, and walking groups made the trail not just a destination—but a part of everyday life.
The North Omaha Trail is more than a pathway. It’s a symbol of what’s possible when people come together with a shared purpose. We’re proud to have a hand in its story—and to work alongside teammates like Manne, who lead with heart and vision.
As we look toward Phase 2, which will connect the trail to the riverfront, it’s clear: this is a legacy in motion. And we’re honored to be part of it.
Proud to be part of this Community of Solvers,
Dave McIvor
