When I was younger, STEM-based opportunities were not readily available to me. Nevertheless, I had a passion for STEM and a tenacity for problem-solving, so when it came time to select a college tract – the answer was simple – I wanted to pursue civil engineering. In 2015, I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. The school’s commitment to developing the next generation of leaders set me on a solid path forward.
I have been living the legacy at Lamp Rynearson for over eight years now. The opportunities I have been afforded to grow as a professional and individual have been endless. From gaining knowledge from my teammates and becoming more confident in myself as the years have passed, much of it can be attributed to the work environment at Lamp Rynearson. Learning and developing occur when you can do it for yourself, and I have been provided many moments here to do just that.
I am passionate about giving back to my community. Through our firm’s philanthropic spirit, I am given the space to make a difference and inspire the next generation of engineers. As a mentor for ACE, I can give bright young minds the STEM experiences I missed out on as a youth. So, I love being able to support students and be in the room as a female engineer to show that being a woman in a STEM role is an attainable goal. As an ACE mentor, I actively participate in educational outreach. Throughout the yearly program, seeing the growth of students from the beginning to the end of the year is phenomenal. I stand steadfast in the joy and knowledge that what I am doing, along with ACE Mentor and Lamp Rynearson, is making a difference.
