The Breakers Redevelopment Project

Omaha, Nebraska
December 28, 2017

Who would decide to revamp an unused electricity plant that had been decommissioned for 30 years? Look no further than Todd Heistand of NuStyle Development, an Omaha development company known for tackling challenging sites and converting them to something unexpected and lively.

The $40 million Breakers redevelopment project has 217 housing options and is a creative link between Little Italy and the Old Market areas – right on the Missouri River. Creative reuse of large electrical plant elements such as turbines are woven into the surrounding landscape to pay tribute to the building’s former use.

Lamp Rynearson provided services associated with site design such as a preliminary conceptual design, construction design, construction administration, platting, survey, and permitting. Our firm collaborated closely with the owner and architect to ensure this project would light up!
