Gardner, Kansas
The South Lift Station and Storage Tank project involved evaluation of the existing facility, design of a 1.0 MG wet weather storage tank, new wet weather pump station, and water line as well as improvements to the existing facility. Lamp Rynearson worked on coordinating these designs to allow the City of Gardner, Kansas, to control the flow to and from the lift station
Our wastewater experts completed a draw-down test on the existing facility that determined the existing 750 gpm pumps were operating below 300 gpm. As a result, larger pumps were not necessary. Using Google Earth to create a profile and desktop calculations, the system head was calculated, and correctly selected replacements pumps were specified and installed. The design included many components that reused existing infrastructure such as relocating two existing 750 gpm pumps to the wet weather pump station, allowing the project bid to come in under the anticipated budget. The City selected some enhancements, such as asphalt, to bring the final project cost to the budget.
