Boys Town, Nebraska
For over 30 years, Lamp Rynearson has been the Village Engineer for the historic village of Boys Town. Founded by Father Flanagan in the 1920s, Boys Town is a live-in facility for youth with a mission of saving children and healing families. With over 400 boys and girls living on campus, safety is paramount as they receive care and guidance, walk to school, and participate in activities.
Lamp Rynearson has designed several roundabouts for traffic circulation and campus safety. The most recent is a three-legged traffic circle at Norton and Overlook Drive. With the newly added Overlook Drive connecting to 144th Street, this roundabout was designed to accommodate anticipated traffic from the 144th arterial. The circle also provides access to the post office, fire station, and other facilities with the Boys Town campus.
Phasing was used on this project so traffic would have continued access to on-site agencies as Lamp Rynearson coordinated with the Village of Boys Town, the City of Omaha, and Douglas County.
