Strengthening Survey Leadership in a Growing Region
When you spend nearly a decade shaping survey operations for one of the fastest-growing counties in Kansas, you develop a perspective that’s hard to find. Lamp Rynearson has brought that perspective in-house, welcoming Ryan Hendrickson, P.S., as Survey Practice Lead for our Kansas City office.
Ryan brings more than a decade of experience in land surveying and public infrastructure, including eight years leading survey operations for Johnson County, Kansas. His deep understanding of regional land systems, infrastructure, and development patterns positions him to play a key role in expanding Lamp Rynearson’s survey services and supporting clients across the Kansas City metro.
Experience That Supports Community Growth
In his previous role as County Surveyor and Survey Manager for Johnson County Public Works, Ryan was responsible for overseeing all county-wide survey operations. He led the development and implementation of standardized procedures and quality control protocols, helping ensure consistency and accuracy across a wide range of projects.
As a recognized expert in the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and land records management, Ryan contributed to informed decision-making in a rapidly developing environment where precision and reliability are essential.
His experience also includes time with the City of Overland Park, where he supported municipal infrastructure and development projects as an Engineering Technician. This combination of county- and city-level experience gives him a well-rounded perspective on how survey data supports community growth, infrastructure investment, and long-term planning.
Technical Expertise and Professional Credentials
A Licensed Professional Surveyor in the State of Kansas, Ryan holds an Associate of Applied Science in Land Surveying from Metropolitan Community College. His technical expertise spans boundary, ALTA, and topographic surveys, along with subdivision plats, legal descriptions, and right-of-way and infrastructure surveying.
He is also highly skilled in GPS technology, total station operations, and Civil3D—tools that support accurate, efficient survey solutions in today’s increasingly complex project environments.
Leadership That Reflects Our Values
Beyond his technical capabilities, Ryan is recognized for his leadership in staff development, program strategy, and client service. His ability to build strong relationships and guide high-performing teams reflects Lamp Rynearson’s commitment to delivering thoughtful, reliable solutions that serve both clients and communities.
“Ryan knows this region’s land, its infrastructure, and its communities in a way that only comes from years of doing the work at the county level,” said Regan Pence, PLA, Office Leader in Kansas City. “That perspective is going to be a real asset to our clients and to our team here.”
Investing in the Future of Surveying
Ryan’s addition underscores Lamp Rynearson’s continued investment in experienced leadership and technical excellence in the Kansas City market. As the firm grows its survey practice, his expertise will help ensure clients receive high-quality, dependable services that support sustainable development and resilient infrastructure across the region.
