On the first day of orientation, Joe could not have anticipated the impact that would inspire and transform schools and neighborhoods, or the mentorship he would give and receive as a civil engineer at Lamp Rynearson. February 2003 was the start of a career journey that allowed Joe to bring his whole self to work.
“I feel I get to work at Lamp Rynearson and not that I have to work at Lamp Rynearson. It is truly a privilege to come to work each day with friends and colleagues who want to do their best because they are motivated by doing the right thing for our community and company.” Starting as a Project Engineer to now a Senior Project Manager, Joe has too many great memories and work experiences to count. Working on the Canopy South Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant has been his favorite.
“This was an opportunity to support the underserved in my community and practice equity in infrastructure. The need is real, and it’s an amazing feeling to be part of the solution for our community.”
In the future, Joe plans on continuing to develop a resume of projects that provide equity in infrastructure and that lift up our community and our neighbors that have been ignored and disenfranchised. He believes that providing dignified, reliable, affordable housing will spark additional development and pride for our most vulnerable. Ultimately, Joe wants to change the narrative for future generations.
With 20 years of experience in the Design Group, Joe provides leadership and mentorship to fellow team members. “Every time I see someone else grow and succeed, that fills my bucket.” Says, Joe.
When he’s not pouring himself into community-changing projects, you find Joe working out and staying fit. “I love to exercise because it’s free and makes you feel GREAT! It can turn a bad day around.”
Congratulations on reaching a fantastic milestone of 20 years and continuing to live your authentic career journey with Lamp Rynearson!
