The rhythmic churning of engines from heavy machinery, the roar of excavators digging into the earth, and the whirring of drills. A construction site is dynamic and bustling, with each sound a step toward purposeful progress. On a warm, sunny midwestern morning our Construction Administration team arrives on site, where construction has begun on a gravity sewer and force main.
Our Construction Administration team wears many hats in a project in order to ensure our clients get the best product possible while being good stewards of the client’s funds. Site presence, coordination, and communication are essential to ensure the project is realized for all stakeholders.
Site Presence
Throughout the construction phase of a project, our team serves as the owner’s eyes and ears on-site. Construction Observers schedule regular site visits in order to monitor progress, provide technical solutions, anticipate challenges, and ensure the client’s projects are completed in accordance with specifications. Our field personnel are trained, observant, problem solvers who make sure projects are completed in accordance with the contract documents. This hands-on approach minimizes errors and discrepancies which leads to a flawless final product.
Coordination
A Construction Administrator’s largest responsibility is to ensure smooth communication and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in the project, from the design phase through construction and final completion. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, organizational skills, and effective communication abilities. The Construction Administrator acts as a central point of contact between all stakeholders including engineers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities. They facilitate open and efficient communication among these stakeholders to prevent misunderstandings and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
Communication
Communicating with stakeholders is a key component in getting a project across the finish line. While conducting construction administration, our team serves as the central hub, relaying information between stakeholders, addressing concerns, and facilitating collaboration. Transparent and open communication ensures that everyone is moving toward the same final product.
“By overseeing the construction phase of the project, we help ensure the vision of a project is realized for all stakeholders involved,” said Senior Construction Engineer, Matt Nelson, PE.
Engineering is fundamental in shaping the physical world around us. Construction is the bridge that brings design into reality. Our Construction Administration team has a hand in aspects of everything in order to ensure clients receive the best product possible, while also maintaining their budget.
