The Bison Solar array is located approximately 12 miles north of Wellington, Colorado, on land owned by Platte River Power Authority (PRPA) near the Rawhide Power Plant. The property boundary includes approximately 200 acres of proposed solar arrays and provides 30 megawatts of solar energy to the power grid. The project sits on undisturbed vegetation requiring grading for solar panels, 8,400 feet of gravel maintenance road, and 12 +/- power stations.
Final drainage report/analysis was completed for the developed area comparing existing conditions to planned conditions. Engineers designed layout and grading for water quality, detention, and retention ponds to manage stormwater runoff for the site. For the final design, gravel maintenance roads, roadside ditches, culverts, and layout of erosion control measures were created.
