Village of Brownville, Nebraska
With a rich connection to the history of Nebraska and close proximity to the Missouri River, Brownville is a village connected to the ebb and flow of time and water. 2019 brought yet another devastating flood that damaged Brownville’s riverfront and the historic Captain Meriwether Lewis dredge. Starting in 2020, the Village of Brownville selected Lamp Rynearson to develop a conceptual revitalization plan for the riverfront and Captain Meriwether Lewis Dredge historical site. In 2021, the Village and Lamp Rynearson collaborated again to develop a document that would support the acquisition of funds through grant applications.Lamp Rynearson worked with stakeholders, coordinated public engagement, analyzed the site, and created conceptual designs and renderings for the new riverfront design. The resulting product was a comprehensive site master plan for a flood-resilient riverfront that integrated community feedback into a design that represented Brownville’s culture, spirit, and vision and identified available funding opportunities to fund the construction of the project.
