Lenexa, Kansas
Residents of the Cedars neighborhood in Lenexa, KS were experiencing flooding problems in and around their homes. In response, Lamp Rynearson provided consulting for a preliminary engineering study. As part of the study, a neighborhood questionnaire was sent to residents to gather further input. Available data from AIMS, As-Builts and CCTV were reviewed to determine the most cost-effective solutions to mitigate flooding problems and repair failing corrugated metal pipe.
The preliminary engineering study determined that a storm sewer extension was required for part of the system. Other alternatives were evaluated for rehabilitation of approximately 10,000 feet of failing Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP). Alternatives included open cut replacement, Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP), slip lining, and concrete invert lining.
The final design for this $2.6M project includes a mix of solutions: replacement of 2,530 feet of CMP with Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP), 7,901 feet of Cured- In- Place Pipe (CIPP) lining, and 135 feet of slip-lining. At the completion of the Cedars Final Design, the City awarded Lamp Rynearson with a similar project in the Ashley Park subdivision, which is currently in its final design stages.
