Omaha, Nebraska
The Crossroads redevelopment at 72nd and Dodge Street in Omaha, Nebraska, is adjacent to one of the city’s busiest intersections and most traveled arterials. With 42,000 vehicles moving through the intersection daily, changes were needed to accommodate the over one-million-square-foot redevelopment and anticipated traffic growth.
As the traffic engineering lead we performed an extensive traffic study and analyzed the data to design public improvements to Dodge Street. The result of our meticulous planning and execution is evident in the following improvements:
- addition of an eastbound left turn creating a dual left turn lane on Dodge Street, expanding the main entrance of The Crossroads at 74th Street
- widening and additional lane north of Dodge Street
- reconstruction of westbound lanes
- addition of a new bus stop
These improvements enhanced the traffic flow and contributed to the overall development plan, a testament to our shared vision for the city.
Four construction phases allowed for consistent traffic flow, access to surrounding businesses, and ensured multi-modal traffic safety. Lamp Rynearson professionals coordinated with the City of Omaha, stakeholders, and major utility companies throughout all project phases.
