Omaha, Nebraska
As the communities in Northwest Omaha grow, there’s a need for infrastructure to support future development. This includes schools, residential areas, and commercial projects; all require connections to the City of Omaha’s stormwater and sewer network.
To accommodate the expanding residential neighborhoods, a large interceptor sewer was needed. At Flanigan Lake, Lamp Rynearson engineers planned for over 6,000 acres of developed land in the area. The capacity study called for the design of a 30” interceptor sewer to connect to the City’s water treatment plant.
During construction the project involved the installation of a mile-long sewer line, as well as the removal and replacement of an existing trail on the West side of Flanigan Lake. Dewatering was necessary during construction, with water being pumped upstream 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
