Excelsior Springs, Missouri
After an evaluation of the existing Excelsior Springs wastewater treatment plant, Larkin Lamp Rynearson opted to design a new 3.5 mgd wastewater treatment facility to meet the anticipated National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) limits. Several pumping systems were designed in the new facility, including an influent lift station with five pumps, return and waste sludge pumps, non-potable water pumps, and rotary fan press pumps.
The new facility was in service for about a year when operating staff began looking for ways to utilize the new plant for the existing wastewater reuse system that pumps effluent to the golf course. After investigating several alternatives, Larkin Lamp Rynearson recommended removing two existing pumps and contact tank from service. We then installed a new 50 horsepower vertical turbine pump. This allowed the new facility to pump water to the golf course more efficiently.
