Overland Park, Kansas
Seven commercial buildings were flooded in the Stanley neighborhood of Overland Park due to a 2-year storm event. The natural stream channels were undersized and unable to convey local and upstream runoff. Lamp Rynearson implemented a solution to construct over 4,000 linear feet of storm drainage improvements that would enclose the undersized channel with a triple cell reinforced concrete box culvert, a concrete channel, a concrete flume and angular rock fill. As a result, all seven properties were removed from the 100-year flooding.
