Omaha, Nebraska
This large development site in the heart of Omaha at 72nd and Dodge Street will transform and revitalize the area around the one of the busiest intersections in the state. A mixed-use development spanning 40 acres is scheduled to open in 2024. Formerly a large shopping mall that originally opened in 1960 and continued to grow over several decades. By the early 2000s, the shopping mall culture began to change, and retail vacancies increased. The City of Omaha, Lockwood Development and Century Development made it a priority to revive this centrally located site with a modern mixed-use master plan.
Lamp Rynearson professionals designed the public improvements of Dodge and Cass Streets, as well as roadways within the site, sewers, and utilities. Our erosion control specialists are performing site inspections and compliance monitoring throughout all phases of this project. This site presented several unique challenges for our inspection professionals, including old infrastructure and containment of hazardous building materials. This project sits within a fully developed urban area, surrounded by both commercial and residential buildings. Site inspectors must be considerate of current traffic needs while protecting those surrounding businesses and residents. Mitigating dust, track out, and sediment drainage, while maintaining safety has been paramount during the construction phases.
