Omaha, Nebraska
One of Omaha’s most iconic intersections at the heart of the city at 72nd & Dodge was home to Crossroads Mall. In operation since 1960 the Mall needed redevelopment. The massive project will once again create a dynamic connection between downtown and west Omaha merging retail, business, art, entertainment, multifamily and more.
Reimagining the 40-acre 1.5 million SF site with the developers while carefully working through the technical design and details was an exciting challenge. Keeping the existing anchor retail tenant open and operational throughout the project was a must. As we worked with the developers on the Crossroads vision, Lamp Rynearson created demo plans, grading, entitlements including master planning, public improvements, traffic studies, utilities, survey, and overall coordination. Lamp Rynearson was a part of the team from the beginning and followed it through to completion working with multiple developers and partners.
As a part of the redevelopment Lamp Rynearson led the traffic studies and engineered changes to Dodge Street (a State Highway) to accommodate the redevelopment and anticipated traffic growth. Four construction phases allowed for consistent traffic flow, access to surrounding businesses and ensured multi-modal traffic safety. Lamp Rynearson professionals coordinated with the City of Omaha, stakeholders, and major utility companies throughout all project phases.
